Meet Fariyal
For chef Fariyal Abdullahi, cooking has always meant company. In Ethiopia, her family home buzzed with aunties, uncles and cousins gathering for plates of her mum’s much‑loved food. That everyday togetherness still guides her time in the kitchen.
Her path took her from the Culinary Institute of America to Copenhagen’s Michelin‑starred Noma. Today, she leads the pass at Hav & Mar in New York City and is a James Beard Award nominee.
